Stream Mike Plume’s New Singles Today

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb. 7, 2020

TORONTO ON — Today, acclaimed Canadian singer/songwriter Mike Plume is releasing not one, but two singles in anticipation of his latest album Lonesome Stretch Of Highway this May, his first in partnership with Edmonton-based Royalty Records. The choice to release two songs out of the gate reflects the album’s musical diversity and Plume’s reinvigorated approach to writing, with “Younger Than We Are Today” displaying a classic alt-country sound and “I’m Your Huckleberry” taking a more folksy approach with it’s clever lyricism.

Both singles are available to purchase and stream now on all digital platforms, and can be heard exclusively at Roots Music Canada.

Lonesome Stretch Of Highway finds Plume reborn in many ways. Its nine tracks bear his distinctive stamp, but with an added crackling energy that’s a byproduct of hard-won experience. Recorded in his adopted hometown of Edmonton, the album marks Plume’s third collaboration with producer Marek David, and the first time they’ve worked together since 2001’s Fools For The Radio.

“I think with this record, patience has been the key,” Plume explains. “Some of these songs were kicking around for a long time, but they just weren’t ready. They just didn’t feel finished at the time I wrote them. Close, but not quite. I knew they had potential, so I just kept going back to them on a regular basis. I’m glad that I kept working on them, kneading them, massaging them, because that craftsman-like mentality has, I feel, helped this album to be among the best I’ve made.”

Having first arrived on the scene in the midst of the alt-country insurgency of the early 1990s, Mike Plume and his loyal band have logged countless miles around the globe, touring with the likes of Steve Earle, The Mavericks, John Hiatt and others, while befriending legends such as Levon Helm and Stompin’ Tom Connors. The lessons he’s learned along the way have left an indelible mark on Lonesome Stretch Of Highway, with songs such as “Younger Than We Are Today,” “I’m Your Huckleberry,” “It’s A Long Way” (featuring The Road Hammers), and “Perfume And Gasoline” destined to take a place among his best-loved tunes.

Plume has long been known for his richly detailed storytelling style and unyielding devotion to rock and roll’s original spirit. That’s all present on Lonesome Stretch Of Highway, powered by Plume’s earthy, uncompromising voice. That combination is proof that one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/songwriters remains at the top of his game and is ready to hit that highway again.

More details to come! Mike Plume is available for interviews and on-air appearances.

Royalty Records Celebrates – A 45 Year Legacy of Country Music

It’s forty-five years and counting. A collection of Royalty Records favourite B-sides from the last 45 years.

Looking back to 1974 it doesn’t really seem all that long ago, but the dream of starting both a western Canadian based record label and music publishing company had been top of mind for R. Harlan Smith. After years of touring across Canada, Smith would always return to the prairies wondering why there did not seem to be much attention of any kind given to the vast amount of incredible and mostly unheard of great musicians, songwriters and artists from the prairies that just maybe, with a little helping hand could help build a more complete national Canadian country music industry.

ABOVE (back row L to R): Tracy Lynn, George Hauser, Jimmy Arthur Ordge, Glory-Anne Carriere, R. Harlan Smith, Larry Gustafson, Danny Hooper, Joyce Smith, Wilf Ingersoll; (front row L to R) Fred Larose, Frank Walls, Chris Nielsen, Laura Vinson.

Incidentally, Helping Hand Music was the original name of Royalty Music Publishing Inc. which had actually been up and running a couple of years before Royalty Records became a reality.  In an era of plucky upstart indie labels, Royalty remains true to its roots as one of the original Canadian country labels. The songs, the artists, recalling the times in the studio, this collection is a joyous trip down a historical memory lane.

Royalty Records has developed decades of Canada’s great country artists and continues to do so to this day.

ABOVE: (back row L to R) Neil MacDonald, Darren Gusnowsky, Mitch Smith, Rob Smith, Kham Yawnghwe;(front row L to R) Christie Armstrong, Kathryn Hummel, Stacie Roper, Ryan Langlois, Melissa Langlois,Andreas Wegner, Kasha Anne, Ben Shillabeer, Rob Shapiro, Teddy Michaylaow, Paul Biro.

Chris Buck Band – New Single #HolyGround

Holy Ground is the truest song to Chris Buck’s story. Growing up in Northern Ontario was a very special part of his life. He believes everyone has that one place they can call their “Holy Ground”.

For Chris Buck, this is his aunt and uncle’s sugar bush property in Tiny, Ontario which Chris frequents often when in the area. Recently the new music video for this single was shot there, bringing you closer to knowing more about the man behind the music.

Friday August 9th, you can request Holy Ground now at Canadian country radio and the music video will premiere on theboot.com on August 21st, 2019.

February 1, 2019 (Toronto, ON) – After a strong finish to 2018 with the release of country anthem “RDNKN” and four BCCMA nominations, Chris Buck Band returns in 2019 with the release of their sophomore album All In, set for release on February 8 via Royalty Records. LISTEN TO “GOOD OL’DAYS” HERE

Featuring his 2018 hits ‘Spin on It’ and ‘RDNKN’, All In shows the multifaceted sides of Chris Buck and invites fans to get to know him on a more person level, both as an artist and a songwriter. From paying homage to his home roots with the upbeat, opening track ‘Holy Ground’ to showing his sentimental side with country ballad ‘Driftin’, this sophomore album is a personal reflection of Buck that goes beyond his RDNKN party anthem.

Breaking onto the scene in 2017 with their debut, self-titled album, Chris Buck Band quickly became one of the fastest rising Canadian country acts with the release of their Billboard Top 20 hit ‘That’s When You Know’  featuring country darling Kira Isabella. The track skyrocketed with over 4 million streams and over 80K Spotify playlist adds in addition to its CCMA Award nomination for ‘Video of the Year’. Since then, Chris Buck Band has performed across the country on some of Canada’s biggest festival stages including Boots & Hearts, Rockin’ River Music Fest, The Calgary Stampede and Manitoulin Countryfest.

Embarking on a cross-Canada radio tour to support the release, fans can expect to see more of Chris Buck Band going all in this summer with more show date and festival plays to be announced. To stay up to date on all upcoming shows and new music, please visit www.chrisbuckband.com.
