When you hear a Tristan Horncastle song, whether it’s the Friday night anthem “Recreation Land” or the yearning “You Want”, you’re hearing his life. Tristan is eager to share more of his life on his recently released #1 selling album, Turnin’ Up A Sundown, out on Royalty Records/Sony Music Canada, February 2016.
Recorded at Nashville’s fabled Sound Stage Studio with engineer Julian King (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill) and Producers Aaron Goovin & Bart Butler, Turnin’ Up A Sundown features eight solid cuts laid down with some of Music City’s top musicians, including the title track written by Jason Blaine.
Since releasing his first EP in 2011, the Fredericton, New Brunswick native has shared stages with the likes of Travis Tritt, Dean Brody, Joe Diffie and Leann Rimes. Horncastle’s hard work recently earned a 2016 CCMA nomination for Recording Package of the Year.
The winners will be announced during the Prix MNB Awards evening, taking place Thursday, October 13, at Miramichi’s Carrefour communautaire Beausoleil. The evening will kick off Festival (506), a four-day migrating event which showcases incredible homegrown New Brunswick music.

YOUTH EMERGENCY SHELTER SOCIETY – Sunrise

Toronto, Canada. January 11, 2012. In February 2010, and on the heels of the doors closing on the only youth emergency shelter north of Edmonton, Grande Prairie’s Tenille presented a cheque for over $30,000 representing efforts of 1 evening of musical performances, auction item purchases and unwavering support from the community’s volunteers, attendees and her musician friends. Grande Prairie’s Youth Emergency Shelter Society also known as Sunrise House continued to operate. In February 2011, the event, larger in scale with auction donations from as far away as Los Angeles, resulted in $60,000 being turned over in one evening.
In its third year, the 2012 BIG HEARTS FOR BIG KIDS concert fundraiser occurring Saturday February 11th at the Jackpot Grill and Banquet Facility is bigger than ever. With songwriting circle performances by Tenille, Wendell Ferguson, Pear, Jake Mathews, Willie Mack, and Michelle Wright, the evening will round out with the high energy feature performance of Jason Blaine and his band. Donated items include an autographed Epiphone DR 100 acoustic guitar from Epiphone Guitars; a trip for two wherever Westjet flies; artist Lewis Lavoie is returning to paint a live mural during the evening which will be auctioned off. A mystery raffle will also take place and on-line donations will contribute to the evening’s success.
“The shelter’s 2012 budget is $435,000.00” said Tanya Wald, Executive Director. “Currently 64% of the budget’s funding is confirmed leaving us $155,000 to raise. Tenille’s Big Hearts for Big Kids Annual Concert Event is a major part of those fundraising dollars. Based on its previous success, Big Hearts for Big Kids contributes close to 40% of that total. Tenille’s vision and fundraising efforts make a difference in the lives of youth and allow us more time to focus on the shelter and our clients. We are very proud to have her aligned with
us.”
A private concert will also be held at BIG COUNTRY 93.1 radio station with Michelle Wright, the newest member of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, prior to the show. One lucky Peace Region winner will be chosen from a songwriters’ contest to attend Michelle’s on air performance and perform their winning song with her in attendance.
BIG HEARTS FOR BIG KIDS will be emceed by Corus Entertainment’s Tracie Gray and Big Country 93.1 FM’s Lyle West. Doors open at 6:30 with the show beginning at 7:00 pm. Tickets are on sale for $75.00 each and available at the Crystal Centre Box Office (780-538-0387).
