“Rolling out of the Canadian Rockies and across the prairie Province of Alberta, The Orchard finds its sound in Canadiana. Great tunes, great guitars and great Vocals. This is a real deal, no B.S. band playing real music.” – Jim Scott (Producer)

The Orchard Bio:

Kasha Anne and Mitch Smith the singer/songwriter duo better known as The Orchard, couldn’t have picked a better title for their latest album than The Great Unknown. After making an indelible impression on Canada’s country music scene with their first two records, the Alberta natives instinctively knew heading into their third release that change was imminent.

But what would that change entail? New sounds? A new producer? A new approach to writing and recording? All of the above, as it turns out. Led by the anthemic first single “Sometimes I Wonder,” The Great Unknown is a cosmic blend of rock, country and pop. It’s a vision the pair had from the beginning of completely ignoring genre definitions and just doing what came naturally. Still, they needed a trusted hand to guide them in the studio, and there was no one better to ask than producer Jim Scott (Tedeschi Trucks Band, Marcus King Band).

The results reveal The Orchard’s true identity for the first time, a songwriting partnership, and band, able to bring together music fans of all types through their fresh and exciting sound.

TRISTAN HORNCASTLE NOMINATED FOR 2016 CCMA

“RECORDING PACKAGE OF THE YEAR”

July 13, 2016 – EDMONTON, AB – Tristan Horncastle’s design team was announced today to be amongst this years 2016 Canadian Country Music Award Nominees. Designer, Bronwin Parks & Photographer Mark Maryanovich, have been nominated for “Recording Package of the Year”.

The album package under consideration for the Recording Package of the Year CCMA Award comes from Parks’ work for the latest release by Tristan Horncastle, Turnin’ Up A Sundown. This artwork and the wide variety of marketing materials created for the Royalty Records release offer an example of Parks’ ability to create artwork that is both innovative and personal, reflecting an artist’s passions, values and — most importantly — their music.

This achievement comes on the heels of a major milestone year for Parks and Feisty Creative, after receiving her first WCMA nomination in May, having relocated her business to Victoria, BC and returned to her west coast roots in the fall of 2015. With over twelve years of experience developing outstanding design, Parks’ past creative collaborations include some of Canada’s biggest stars, including Johnny Reid, Paul Brandt, Blue Rodeo, Jann Arden and Spirit of the West. Throughout her entire career Parks has been a lead member of the creative team for the Canadian Country Music Association, which gives this honour special significance.

Award-winning photographer Mark Maryanovich has captured an impressive variety of artists including Chris Cornell, Bob Rock, Chad Kroeger, Elliott Smith and Henry Rollins. His photographs have appeared as album covers and artwork for companies such as Sony, EMI, Warner Chappell Music, and in 2012, Mark received a Canadian Country Music Award for Album Design of the Year, his second in the category since 2009.

Mark’s images stand out from the masses with a unique quality, a quality created by a unique style of shooting; an experience that captures the raw essence of his subjects. Mark provides a multitude of images to fulfill the constant demand for visual content, while creating a cohesive brand identity for his clients that translates intangible qualities into tangible form.

With the Canadian radio success of his Top 5 selling debut album A Little Bit Of Alright having established Horncastle as an undeniable breakout artist, Tristan is eager to share more of his life on his sophomore and #1 iTunes selling album, Turnin’ Up A Sundown, released earlier this year on February 5th, 2016 through Royalty Records/Sony Music Canada.

Since releasing his first EP in 2011, the Fredericton, New Brunswick native has shared stages with the likes of Travis Tritt, Dean Brody, Joe Diffie and Leann Rimes. Horncastle’s hard work and dedication culminated in 2015 with a nomination in the Canadian Country Music Association Awards’ Rising Star category and Canadian Radio Music Award nomination for Best New Group of Solo Artist in the Country category and most recently 3 Wins at Prix Music NB Awards for Album of the Year, Country Artist of the Year and Fans’ Choice.

The Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA®) is pleased to announce the final nominees in forty-two (42) categories. CCMA Awards will be given out over three (3) awards ceremonies during Country Music Week in London, Ontario, September 8 – 11. Ticket and event information regarding Country Music Week can be found at ccma.org. Performers for the 2016 CCMA Awards show will be announced throughout the month of August.

STAY HOME THE NEW SINGLE FROM BLAKE REID

ROYALTY RECORDS & SONY  MUSIC CANADA

PRESENT…

BReid_StayHome_CVRfinaliTunes

“STAY HOME” is Blake’s single being released in conjunction with and in support of his Album “RUST” which was released October 30th 2015.”RUST” peaked at #17 on the Canadian country iTunes chart on it’s release day last Friday.

No other art form puts more stock in authenticity than country music, and there’s never been any question about that with Blake Reid. Just get the native of Cremona, Alberta talking about his upbringing and you’ll hear more than enough proof. In fact, there’s a story that in many ways best sums up Reid’s latest album, Rust, released October 30th 2015. It goes something like this: One of his most cherished possessions is his grandfather’s ’72 Chevy pickup, which he’s managed to keep running like a top. One day, Reid’s young son asked why he’s never repainted the worn-down spot on the window edge of the driver’s side door. Reid’s response? That’s the place where his grandfather’s elbow always rested and covering it up would erase part of his story.Rust is brimming with similar tales, showcasing Reid’s status as a true workingman’s poet.

All of those elements add up to the vision Reid had for Rust from the beginning, celebrating the future while honouring the past. It was a concept that Reid’s producer Phil O’Donnell—one of Nashville’s many transplanted Canadians, whose songs have been recorded by the likes of George Strait, Blake Shelton and Brad Paisley—latched onto immediately. “Phil just has the right feel for current sounds, and also a deep understanding of everything that’s necessary to make great records,” Reid says. “All the players on the album were hand-picked CMA award winners, and being able to work with them at Legends Studio in Nashville, where Willie and Waylon and so many of my other heroes made records, was really a dream come true.”

CANADIAN COUNTRY SINGER BLAKE REID RELEASES SOPHOMORE ALBUM RUST

CANADIAN COUNTRY SINGER BLAKE REID RELEASES SOPHOMORE ALBUM RUST

Toronto, ON – Canadian country artist Blake Reid will release his sophomore album, Rust (Royalty Records/Sony Music Canada), October 30, 2015. Reid draws from his deep-seated farm roots to tell his story through music. The album includes the lead single “Sounds Like a Song” and sees Reid collaborate with Nashville producer, Phil O’Donnell (Brett Kissel, High Valley, Blake Shelton). The result is a collection of songs which capture an authentic country sound.

Set to be released November 2, 2015, Reid’s forthcoming single “Stay Home” is the epitome of country twang, from his rich rustic voice to the plucked strings of his guitar. In contrast, “Sounds Like a Song”, is an up-tempo track with all the makings of an instant radio hit. It’s the type of hard-edged track that makes you want to kick on some cowboy boots and hit the rodeo. Coming from a five-generation farm family, Reid has the ability to create diverse tracks while maintaining his innate, homegrown country style.

“I’m really excited to send Rust out – it was such a cool project right from the start.  I feel that we live in a disposable world right now and it was important for me to write about the ‘colour of life’ that’s sometimes overlooked as we strive for the next ‘new’,” says Reid. “Bringing that concept to Philbilly (Phil O’Donnell) and recording Rust at Legends, Nashville was a natural fit. I’ve been coast to coast this past year and met so many great folks – I’m really looking forward to continue to reach out to the hard working people and country music fans with this album.”

Rust was recorded at Legend Studios in Nashville, where country music legends Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson made some of their classic records and Reid co-wrote with award winning country singer / songwriter, Buddy Owens (Blake Shelton, Sunny Sweeney, Gord Bamford) on the album.

As a native of Cremona, AB., Reid uses his rural roots as the driving inspiration for his song writing. He was selected by a jury of music industry executives and journalists from amongst 160 competing artists for a place as a finalist in the 2013 CCMA Discovery Program. He was also selected as one of six emerging artists to play during 2013 Canadian Country Music Week. Reid is passionate about producing authentic country music and Rust reflects this.
