AMY METCALFE SIGNED TO ROYALTY RECORDS!
Thursday July 3rd, 2014
Edmonton, AB
Amy Metcalfe recently joined Royalty Records, where she will be a part of a growing roster filled with exceptional talent and be amongst the fresh new music to be released by the label later this year.
Amy hails from Red Deer, Alberta where she spends her time immersed in songwriting and working on her farm. While her music reflects crossover potential, country flows deep, with experience as a horse trainer, daily chores on the acreage and partaking in regular equestrian competitions all across Alberta.
Amy plays guitar, banjo, ukulele and piano and has written over 200 songs. She has worked with some of Canada and Nashville’s top writers including, Grammy Winner Wayne Kirkpatrick, Cindy Morgan, Phil Madiera, Jeremy Bose, Byron Hill, Duane Steele and Rylee Madison.
“I was first introduced to Amy Metcalfe by Stacie Roper (Hey Romeo) at last year’s CCMA’s. From our first meeting, to the subsequent chats we had last fall, I instantly recognized Amy’s passion to her craft as a songwriter, performer and vocalist. As I heard her story of the last couple years and the opportunities she had been presented and turned down, I was drawn to her respect of and dedication to her creative process and integrity of what it means to her. I am honoured to have Amy join our Royalty family and excited for what the future holds for this talented young singer/songwriter. – Rob Smith
Rob and I had been talking since last CCMA’s. I went to Nashville for a couple months in the fall, and when I returned we set up a few more meetings. In this industry I’ve had a few offers and/or scenarios that had a lot of great potential, however I’ve always guarded my creativity and didn’t feel I would have enough creative control. To me, the most admirable artists and singers are the ones that represent something real, and with Royalty I felt that is exactly what I could be. I’m so excited to start this next step in my career and have Royalty alongside me. – Amy Metcalfe
Signed both to a label and publishing deal, this bright multifaceted talent has what it takes to raise the bar in Canadian country music and help steer Royalty into a new direction, alongside other new signings. Keep an eye out for new music coming from Amy Metcalfe this fall!

THE BOOM CHUCKA BOYS JOIN ROYALTY RECORDS!
‘The BCB’s are incredibly excited to announce that they have signed a deal with Royalty Records. We’re ready to make our mark on the country music scene. Now, not only do we have our management and mentors at Cache Ent., we’ve got the power, personnel, and resources of a full service, new school record label. Every year we’ve played bigger and bigger stages. This upcoming 2015 promises to be the BIGGEST YEAR YET.’ – Ryan Langlois (Lead Singer/Front Man)
The Boom Chucka Boys seem to have a knack for walking the fine line between many musical stylings. A WHOLE lot of country, with a splash of rock n’ roll. Sprinkle in some gospel, and little bit of soul.
Heavily inspired by all eras of music they pull from the likes of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, CCR, The Band, Dwight Yoakam, Dierks Bentley, and Zac Brown Band.
Front man Ryan Langlois’ stage presence, showmanship and voice are one of a kind in today’s country music landscape! Add to the mix Joel Rathjen on lead guitar, Teddy Roy Michaylow on bass, and
Ben Shillabeer on the drums, and you have a group of singers, songwriters, and showmen that is incredibly engaging, and entertaining. The band took shape in July of 2010. They began honing their musicianship, songwriting, and performance at any live venue that would lend them a stage. It didn’t take long for them to establish a reputation as a “band on the rise”!
Then on a chilly night in January of 2011, CCMA award winning country artist Gord Bamford happened to walk in on them in the middle of a 3 set night. Before long a deal was made and The Boom Chucka Boys signed a management deal with Cache Entertainment and the rest is history.
Cache Entertainment Inc. is extremely pleased to announce the signing of The Boom Chucka Boys to the team at Royalty Records. “This opportunity is key in the development of the band and the chance to align with our friends at Royalty Records is something we are very grateful for. We look forward to great things together.” – Gord Bamford & Brian Halbert (Cache Entertainment Inc.)

ROYALTY RECORDS SIGNS BLAKE REID!

ROYALTY RECORDS SIGNS BLAKE REID!
Royalty Records hand picked Blake Reid to add to the label’s roster of new artists to be released this year.
Blake was one of the first 6 artists chosen to participate in the CCMA discovery program in 2013, where he quickly earned his reputation as a quality songwriter, inspired by his deep country roots.
“Everyone at Royalty is excited to have Blake join our family. We’ve been following Blake since last year and saw him perform and the CCMA’s in Edmonton. Blake is deeply embedded in country music and the agricultural community, which clearly inspires his song writing and singing by telling real life stories.” – Rob Smith
Blake Reid comes from a five-generation farm family who staked their claim in 1902, broke the land and made a life in Alberta. Blake grew up with country music, with his mom singing along with all the radio legends that echoed in the old farmhouse and Dad would tune into the daily grain prices. Blake spent thousands of hours listening to the evolution of country music through the AM radios of tractors, trucks, and combines.
Blake’s music is about my life and home. He finds himself drawn to the intimacy of farm life, found down every gravel road outside the city limits. Whether the dirt field beside your road is red, brown, or sandy, Blake believes we all turn our ear toward something real and genuine.
“I’m super excited to be partnering with Royalty Records going forward in 2014 and to begin work on my next record. I’m not going to give out too much info yet, but I will say this record is setting up to be really cool and fresh. Joining the Royalty family and working with Nashville Producer/writer Phil O’Donnell is definitely a big step toward success for my career.” – Blake Reid
Blake Reid hits the studio next month to work with Phil O’Donnell in Nashville and will have new music coming later this year!

ROYALTY RECORDS SIGNS JAY SPARROW!
Thursday April 17th, 2014
Edmonton, Alberta
ROYALTY RECORDS SIGNS JAY SPARROW!
Royalty Records announces the new signing of punk-influenced, folk-driven, twang-induced incarnation Jay Sparrow.
Jay will join the collection of new artists to be released on Royalty Records throughout the next year and a half. Signing Jay signifies an expansion in the direction Royalty is taking with the music the label will be releasing.
“When I first met Jay 7 or so years ago, I instantly became a fan of his song writing. To me, the core of his music has always been the writing, which is layered with meaning and story telling. As Jay and I became friends, I realized many similarities we have in growing up around country music and similar stories we had as both our fathers played country music.
Everyone at Royalty is very excited to have Jay join our family, and bring his amazing story telling and uniquely identifiable voice to this new project, along with a few very exciting special guests!” – Rob Smith
Jay Sparrow is… many things but first and foremost he is a singer-songwriter. He has released an impressive body of work over the last seven years with seven records. At his start, Jay was the founder and main songwriter for Canadian punk band Murder City Sparrows. The band released two records, both of which were produced by Canadian rock luminary Gordie Johnson of the legendary band Big Sugar. Their first single broke into the top 40 on Canadian radio and opened the door for the band to tour relentlessly for three years including stops at many major music festivals across North America.
Murder City Sparrows broke up at the end of 2009 and since then Jay has written, produced and released five genre bending solo records to great acclaim. The first of which caught the ear of Canada’s national broadcaster the CBC and they picked Jay as one of the nation’s foremost songwriters.
With the support of thousands of Albertan fans Jay won the CBC great Canadian Song Quest and was commissioned to write a song about his home province’s historic Badlands.
In November of 2012 Jay released his most daring record yet, WHITE. The album saw an artist taking risk and liberty with new techniques and technologies. It was Jay’s first solely electronic record as was it his first time directing his own videos. The combination of stunning visuals and sounds pushed WHITE into the top 20 on iTunes Canada’s singer-songwriter charts for ten weeks straight. The record remained in the top 200 for almost four months and received glowing reviews nationally and locally. Jay has begun writing for his next release scheduled for fall 2014.
“I am excited to join the family at Royalty Records and be a part of their long storied history. I have been keeping watch of the company since Rob and I became friends going on six or seven years ago. I am happy to be among forward thinkers and I expect this will be a creative and rewarding partnership.” – Jay Sparrow
