Recently signed with Royalty Records, David’s new single will also be hitting Canadian country radio on March 30.
“When I co-wrote the song with Jeff Johnson and Dane Frede, the goal for the title was remind people that they are never alone no matter where they are or what is going on in their life, everyone has a safe place to break,” notes David. “Whether that be through religion, someone you love, a place you run to and take refuge or through music. ”
Debuting the track with a special performance at The Dakota Tavern as part of Four Chords and the Truth, the tenderness of the release speaks for itself with the emotional impact “Safe Place To Break” brings to listeners. He’s taken the stage at The Kitchener Bluesfest seven years in row and has performed alongside the likes of JUNO award winning Steve Strongman, Rob Szabo, Shawn Kellerman, and members of The Western Swing Authority. Having opened for country music heavy hitters Aaron Pritchett, Meghan Patrick and The Reklaws, he has also worked with some of the biggest names in the recording industry, such as Jason Barry, David Kalmusky, Emma-Lee, Byron Hill and Jeff Johnson.

The weight of Josh David’s debut has been felt immediately, with out of the gate support across streaming platforms including adds in Apple Music’s Country Lovin’, Canada’s Country, Hot Releases and Hot Tracks, Spotify’s Live Country, and Amazon Music’s 2020 Artists to Watch, Fresh Country, and Brand New Music. Stream Mike Plume’s New Singles Today

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb. 7, 2020

TORONTO ON — Today, acclaimed Canadian singer/songwriter Mike Plume is releasing not one, but two singles in anticipation of his latest album Lonesome Stretch Of Highway this May, his first in partnership with Edmonton-based Royalty Records. The choice to release two songs out of the gate reflects the album’s musical diversity and Plume’s reinvigorated approach to writing, with “Younger Than We Are Today” displaying a classic alt-country sound and “I’m Your Huckleberry” taking a more folksy approach with it’s clever lyricism.

Both singles are available to purchase and stream now on all digital platforms, and can be heard exclusively at Roots Music Canada.

Lonesome Stretch Of Highway finds Plume reborn in many ways. Its nine tracks bear his distinctive stamp, but with an added crackling energy that’s a byproduct of hard-won experience. Recorded in his adopted hometown of Edmonton, the album marks Plume’s third collaboration with producer Marek David, and the first time they’ve worked together since 2001’s Fools For The Radio.

“I think with this record, patience has been the key,” Plume explains. “Some of these songs were kicking around for a long time, but they just weren’t ready. They just didn’t feel finished at the time I wrote them. Close, but not quite. I knew they had potential, so I just kept going back to them on a regular basis. I’m glad that I kept working on them, kneading them, massaging them, because that craftsman-like mentality has, I feel, helped this album to be among the best I’ve made.”

Having first arrived on the scene in the midst of the alt-country insurgency of the early 1990s, Mike Plume and his loyal band have logged countless miles around the globe, touring with the likes of Steve Earle, The Mavericks, John Hiatt and others, while befriending legends such as Levon Helm and Stompin’ Tom Connors. The lessons he’s learned along the way have left an indelible mark on Lonesome Stretch Of Highway, with songs such as “Younger Than We Are Today,” “I’m Your Huckleberry,” “It’s A Long Way” (featuring The Road Hammers), and “Perfume And Gasoline” destined to take a place among his best-loved tunes.

Plume has long been known for his richly detailed storytelling style and unyielding devotion to rock and roll’s original spirit. That’s all present on Lonesome Stretch Of Highway, powered by Plume’s earthy, uncompromising voice. That combination is proof that one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/songwriters remains at the top of his game and is ready to hit that highway again.

More details to come! Mike Plume is available for interviews and on-air appearances.

“Rolling out of the Canadian Rockies and across the prairie Province of Alberta, The Orchard finds its sound in Canadiana. Great tunes, great guitars and great Vocals. This is a real deal, no B.S. band playing real music.” – Jim Scott (Producer)

The Orchard Bio:

Kasha Anne and Mitch Smith the singer/songwriter duo better known as The Orchard, couldn’t have picked a better title for their latest album than The Great Unknown. After making an indelible impression on Canada’s country music scene with their first two records, the Alberta natives instinctively knew heading into their third release that change was imminent.

But what would that change entail? New sounds? A new producer? A new approach to writing and recording? All of the above, as it turns out. Led by the anthemic first single “Sometimes I Wonder,” The Great Unknown is a cosmic blend of rock, country and pop. It’s a vision the pair had from the beginning of completely ignoring genre definitions and just doing what came naturally. Still, they needed a trusted hand to guide them in the studio, and there was no one better to ask than producer Jim Scott (Tedeschi Trucks Band, Marcus King Band).

The results reveal The Orchard’s true identity for the first time, a songwriting partnership, and band, able to bring together music fans of all types through their fresh and exciting sound.

Message from Tristan:

“In 2013, I released my first national radio single “She Brings The Beer” independently. It peeked at #54, and am so thankful to Canadian Country Radio for having a listen, and spinning it.

In January 2014, I am very very excited to have Royalty Records release my new single, ” A Little Bit of Alright”. This song is written by Aaron Goodvin, and Darryl Burgess. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. This is what life is all about. It takes me back to my young days. My mom grew up on a big farm in a very small town, where everybody waves when they pass, and they all know each other. I have so many great memories of the time I spent there growing up in the summers. When I perform it live, or hear someone playing it on the CD, it takes me back, even to the smells. I’m positive Canada, and all my fans will love this song. Hope you enjoy!!”
