Tenille Honoured With The Canadian Country Music Association – 2012 Slaight Music Humanitarian Award

Female country artist Tenille rewarded for efforts alongside voice of country music Larry Delaney

Royalty Records Inc. is thrilled to announce that Tenille is among the  The Canadian Country Music Association recipients for the 2012 Slaight Music Humanitarian Award and the Hank Smith Award of Excellence.

Recognizing a young woman who has one of the biggest hearts in country music, the Slaight Music Humanitarian Award will be presented to 2011 CCMA Award nominee, Tenille.

As the founder of the annual music event ‘Big Hearts for Big Kids’, Tenille has single-handedly created, organized and executed one of the largest fundraising events in the city of Grande Prairie, raising $194,000 since its inception in 2010. Proceeds raised by this annual event benefit Sunrise House, the only youth emergency shelter north of Edmonton which would have been forced to close its doors if it weren’t for Tenille’s incredible fundraising efforts.

“I would like to congratulate Tenille on receiving the 2012 Slaight Music Humanitarian Award,” said Gary Slaight, President & CEO Slaight Communications. “This Award celebrates artists who take it upon themselves to improve the lives of others and what Tenille has been able to accomplish at such a young age is inspiring and hopefully an inspiration for others.”

“It has been a life changing experience being a part of this event and watching Grande Prairie come together through the power of music to make a difference for kids my own age in our community,” said Tenille. “I am incredibly grateful to all of the sponsors, volunteers, audiences, and artists who have participated. The entire family of Canadian Country Music is one made of many “Big Hearts”- it is truly inspiring to be involved in the industry. Thank you so much to the Canadian Country Music Association and Slaight Music for the opportunity to receive this award. I am beyond honoured.”

Tenille’s award will be celebrated at the 2012 CCMA Gala Awards presentation, which takes place at an industry only event on September 8th in Saskatoon. “We are really excited about the release of our new album, Twist of Fate,” says Stacie Roper. “We have worked really hard to give our friends, family and fans something that showcases what we as a band are all about. We wrote the songs for this album with some of our favorite writers such as Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Victoria Banks, Roger Brown and of course Byron Hill. We are looking forward to crossing Canada once again to play our new music for our fans. Thank you to everyone who is a country music listener. We couldn’t do this without you!”

Written over the course of 2011 while the band toured across Canada, Twist of Fate was influenced by a variety of musical styles including country, folk and rock. The album was co-produced by Hey Romeo and Byron Hill (Gary Allan, Gord Bamford) and includes performances by A-list session players Jimmy Carter (bass – Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley), Paul Scholten (drums – Brooks and Dunn, Randy Travis), Mike Johnson (pedal steel player – Faith Hill, Brad Paisley) and Glenn Duncan (multi-instrumentalist – Waylon Jennings, George Jones, The Chieftains).Over the span of their career, Hey Romeo have performed alongside legendary country acts including Sugarland and Johnny Reid, making a name for themselves within the Canadian country music industry.

Hey Romeo’s 2010 sophomore album, That’s What I Am, sparked five hit singles including “Searchin’ For You,” which went Top 20 on both the Mediabase and BDS charts, and “That’s What I Am” peaking at #13 on the Billboard Canada Emerging Artist chart.
