I’m glad I got to spend the full 10 day session at the Camp in Perry Sound while filming; I’m so proud of these kids and blessed to have got to know them and a bit of their stories. They truly are little heroes with huge hearts and potential. Watching them be themselves at camp, and dare to be original and remarkable, makes me believe in change for the better in a world that doesn’t always notice that.

This is such a cool moment, knowing we are getting to take this message to all of Canada after hoping to reach that goal in the first place, but not being able to due to flight expenses. It isn’t everyday, that you find a company whole believes whole heartedly in something to step up and play it forward without hesitation.

First Round of Performers Announced for CCMA Songwriters’ Café at 2013 Country Music Week

The Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA) is proud to announce the first round of performers for the CCMA Songwriters’ Café, sponsored by SOCAN, which will be presented over the course of three days at this year’s Country Music Week, September 5-8 in Edmonton, Alberta.  This year, the CCMA is pleased to welcome both emerging and established songwriters including Autumn Hill, The Command Sisters, Jack Connolly, Jaida Dreyer, Livy Jeanne, Keith & Renee, David Leask, Heather Longstaffe, The Lovelocks, Katie Mission, Jess Moskaluke, and Wes Mack.

“The Songwriter’s Café is a can’t-miss event that puts the spotlight on twenty-four of the best representatives of the vast country music talent in Canada,” said Eric Baptiste, CEO of SOCAN. “Canadian Country Music Week is such as important event, and SOCAN is proud to be a part of it by sponsoring this showcase.”

“This year’s CCMA Songwriters’ Café submissions faced extremely strong competition and our jurors performed a truly exceptional, albeit difficult job, in selecting the 2013 performers,” said CCMA President, Don Green. “The CCMA Songwriters’ Cafe is a fantastic celebration of the incredible writing talents of Canadian artists.”

The CCMA Songwriters’ Café features the penning of original tunes and also introduces listeners to some familiar faces behind the music we love. Sponsored by SOCAN, this acoustic in-the-round performance is sure to inspire and evoke some strong emotions and create memorable moments.

The 2013 CCMA Songwriters’ Café will take place beginning Thursday, September 5 from 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM MST with additional performances on Friday, September 6 from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM MST and Saturday, September 7 from 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM MST at the Citadel Theatre – The Club.
